God's Multiplication

CROSSROADS CENTER AND GOD’S MULTIPLICATION IN 2015
Luke 8:8 says,”Other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great.” That is what has been happening at Crossroads Center Medical and Dental Clinics. Last year Crossroads Center had an income of $105,509.00.  We also had 4011 hours of time donated by our 72 loyal volunteers. And what did God do with that time and money?
As a result of the money and time given last year, we were able to have 244 clinics seeing 948 medical patients and 185 dental patients.  We provided Mental Health counseling at Crossroads to 26 of our patients. In addition, 30 patients received classes in Diabetic Education from our diabetic educator.
According to the State of Florida, we provided $1,628,473.00 of medical services to our patients. In addition, we were able to provide $737,571.00 of free medications for 397 of our patients. That is a total value to our patients of $2,366,044.00.
For every patient we see, we provide $2,198.93 of care in the name of Jesus. For every hour a volunteer serves, we provide $589.89 of medical care and medicines. For every dollar donated, we are able to provide $22.43 of medical services and medicine. God is certainly in the multiplication business.
Most importantly, He drew three people unto Himself so that they asked Jesus to be their Savior. More than anything else, we praise Him for these three souls who we will now meet in eternity. We also give thanks for our faithful CARE Team members who give of their time to pray and share with our patients. By the way, we urgently need more volunteers to join our CARE Team. What about you? We are also very thankful for all of our volunteers who make the ministry of Crossroads Center possible.
If you would like to serve on our office staff or as a CARE Team member, please call 850-389-3015. If you would like to see your charitable gifts multiplied, you may mail your tax deductible donations to Crossroads Center, 444 Valparaiso Pky., Building C., Valparaiso, FL 325880. Three Million Dollars

Three Million Dollars
Approximately $3,000,000.00 is the value of the medicines Crossroads has acquired for its patients through PAP (Patient Assistance Program). Cynthia Jolly and Beverly Mainor are long-term volunteers who preside over PAP. Cynthia heard about Crossroads through her pastor, Mickey Hawkins and his wife Mary Ann, who at the time was the Clinic Manager. Beverly read in her church bulletin of a need for people to volunteer to pray with Crossroads patients and called Mary Ann to volunteer.
Both Cynthia and Beverly feel their biggest joy and blessing at Crossroads is to help people. Some of the medications prescribed are very expensive, and most Crossroads patients cannot afford to purchase these medications. Cynthia cited one medication that costs more than $80,000.00 for a 90 day treatment. Both Cynthia and Beverly have experienced how grateful our patients are for the help we give them with their medications.
Because of the donations from churches, individuals, and businesses, Crossroads is able to purchase a license that provides access to more than 60 pharmaceutical companies. Through this license we help our patients apply for free medications.
Every company has its own application process with the plans and procedures constantly changing. Cynthia and Beverly work tirelessly to keep up with all the changes and to qualify our patients for the free medications they need. Some of the medications are literally life-saving, and the patients have no other resource to get them.
For Beverly, volunteering at Crossroads gives her a sense of purpose and meaning. It is a way of living out God’s love beyond the walls of the church. For her, volunteers are the hands and feet of God as they minister to and pray with Crossroads’ patients.
When asked what volunteer needs Crossroads has, Cynthia mentioned the CARE Ministry, Christians Aiding in Resources and Encouragement. She said that this month we have had 30 clinics and several times we had no volunteer to pray with the patients in the CARE Ministry. Beverly mentioned there was also a need for volunteers in the front office. Someone to answer the phone or to make copies would be a great help during the busy times.
Thanks to Cynthia Jolly and Beverly Mainor lives are being impacted by God’s love through PAP. If you would like to explore ways God might use your talents to bless others, check out our Volunteers Needed page or call 850-389-3015.

Crossroads CARE Team

Crossroads Center is in need of volunteers for our C.A.R.E. Team (Christians Aiding in Resources and Encouragement). Here are some of the ways a CARE Team member ministers to our patients:

  • Using scripture, explains the only way to get to heaven.
  • Gives a Bible to new clients .
  • Distributes to all clients a daily devotional guide for each quarter.
  • Offers other literature/publications that may be of benefit to the client for their given situation.
  • Asks the client for prayer requests and prays with/for each client.
  •  Records prayer requests for reference on their next visit. Also puts prayer request in the prayer request box in lobby for use by prayer groups.
  • Offers the client a menu for One Harvest.

A patient came to Crossroads back in the beginning of 2007. Our providers diagnosed him with diabetes, and he began to take insulin. He came in often because of his disease. He had to be monitored and his medication had to be adjusted. Each time he came in, he was asked to go to an “exit interview”, now called C.A.R.E. Sometimes he went but most often he did not. In fact, he made one of our volunteers cry because he said he did not want prayer or need prayer.
Each time he came in we offered C.A.R.E. Over about a year and a half he went to see the CARE team more and more often. The last time we saw this patient, he asked for prayer for himself from the volunteer that he earlier made cry, which made her cry again.
We never saw him again because he died in an automobile accident a couple of weeks later. We don’t know the end of his story, but Jesus does. We are hopeful that we will see him again one day. That is the hope and prayer for all of our patients, friends and neighbors.
In 2014, Crossroads CARE ministry was able to lead 13 people to the Lord. We would love to have you share in the blessing of Crossroads. If you feel God could use you in our CARE ministry or in another capacity, please call 850-389-3015. We would love for you to join our Crossroads Center Team.

DENTAL MINISTRY MIRACLE

Crossroads Center grew out of the Dental Van ministry but began with the medical clinic. From the beginning it was our goal to add a dental ministry. Each time the Board of Directors discussed the subject we affirmed the need but felt we needed to wait until God gave us clear direction.

In 2013 Dr. Arjen van de Voorde volunteered to serve as our Dental Director. At our April 2013 meeting our Medical Director, Dr. Robert Persons, shared that after much prayer he felt that it was God’s timing for us to move ahead aggressively to establish the dental ministry. We had $12,000.00 set aside for the dental ministry. It was estimated it would take a minimum of $120,00.00 to remodel the space and purchase minimum equipment for basic services.

The board agreed with Dr. Persons that it was in God’s timing to commit to establishing the dental ministry. The entire $12,000.00 was committed to the project and Dr. van de Voorde was asked to move ahead without delay. The decision was made as a step of faith without any concrete plans on how to fund the project.

No announcements of our decision was made to the public. About fifteen days later an anonymous gift of $70,000.00 was given to the dental ministry. It was an enormous confirmation to the board that it was indeed God’s timing. A month later, Crosspoint Chapel made a $10,000.00 donation to the dental ministry. Two months later another anonymous donation of $50,000.00 arrived.

God has provided above and beyond what we hoped for or thought possible. It has all been His doing. We had no public announcements of our need. We had no fund raising projects. God gets all the glory!

Last month we saw 14 dental patients, and provided $8,177.00 of dental care. On the medical side, last month we saw 64 medical patients and provided $132,275.00 of free medications. Our free medications provided just this year is $436,590.00. But most important of all, 3 persons have prayed to receive Christ this year. God continues to out do Himself!

In return they receive many more blessings.
You might want to know what type of volunteer services Crossroads needs. Can you type, answer the phone, file documents, use a copier, pray with and encourage patients? Are you a gardener, handyman or into building maintenance? Are you a medical or dental professional who would like to contribute you services to the needy of your community? Our volunteers can tell you, you will both be a blessing and be blessed. (For a more complete list of our volunteer needs click here: http://crossroadsclinic.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_7759.html. CROSSROADS CENTER
Your Medical Ministry to Our Community
In 2004 Emerald Coast Fellowship sponsored its first dental van ministry. We turned away more than 100 people because there was more need than we had the ability to meet. After a thorough study of the dental and medical needs of the community, the Fellowship voted in 2005 to approve the establishment of a medical ministry for the low income, uninsured of our area.
In early 2006, Mrs. Kim Francks was enlisted as our Clinic Administrator and Dr. Bob Persons was enlisted as our Medical Director. Together with our then Director of Missions, Dr. Hershel Adams, they enlisted a Board of Directors. The Board first met in June of 2006. In August, Mrs. Mary Ann Hawkins was hired to serve as our first Office Manager.
Mrs. Hawkins immediately began studying and visiting other free medical clinics. She took their best methods and practices and established our original operating procedures. Fort Walton Beach Medical Center provided a brand new medical office suite for use by Crossroads Center.
Lay and medical volunteers were enlisted, and in January of 2007 we began seeing patients on Saturday mornings. In the spring of 2007, we added Wednesday mornings to our schedule. In early 2009 Crossroads moved to its present location on the campus of First Baptist Church of Valpariaso. Under the supervision of Dr. Mickey Hawkins an army of volunteers remodeled the space in less than two months.
With God’s blessing, the ministry grew rapidly until today we now have approximately 1,000 medical patients per year and a growing dental ministry. In addition to medical and dental care, Crossroads Center provides mental health counseling by licensed providers. Our Patient Assistance Program has provided more than $2,000,000.00 of free medicines for our patients. Our patients also have the opportunity to visit with one of our Care Team members. Our Care Team volunteers share with the patients the love of Christ, pray with them and provide information about other community resources that may be able to meet their needs.
Thanks to the contribution of our volunteers, other individuals, churches, and civic organizations none of our patients have ever been charged a penny. Your support through your prayers, gifts and volunteer services are the means by which God’s love is shown to some of the least among us.
Crossroads Center continues to seek God’s guidance in its ministry. We wait on the Lord, and he is blessing our efforts.
