Three Million Dollars

Three Million Dollars
Approximately $3,000,000.00 is the value of the medicines Crossroads has acquired for its patients through PAP (Patient Assistance Program). Cynthia Jolly and Beverly Mainor are long-term volunteers who preside over PAP. Cynthia heard about Crossroads through her pastor, Mickey Hawkins and his wife Mary Ann, who at the time was the Clinic Manager. Beverly read in her church bulletin of a need for people to volunteer to pray with Crossroads patients and called Mary Ann to volunteer.
Both Cynthia and Beverly feel their biggest joy and blessing at Crossroads is to help people. Some of the medications prescribed are very expensive, and most Crossroads patients cannot afford to purchase these medications. Cynthia cited one medication that costs more than $80,000.00 for a 90 day treatment. Both Cynthia and Beverly have experienced how grateful our patients are for the help we give them with their medications.
Because of the donations from churches, individuals, and businesses, Crossroads is able to purchase a license that provides access to more than 60 pharmaceutical companies. Through this license we help our patients apply for free medications.
Every company has its own application process with the plans and procedures constantly changing. Cynthia and Beverly work tirelessly to keep up with all the changes and to qualify our patients for the free medications they need. Some of the medications are literally life-saving, and the patients have no other resource to get them.
For Beverly, volunteering at Crossroads gives her a sense of purpose and meaning. It is a way of living out God’s love beyond the walls of the church. For her, volunteers are the hands and feet of God as they minister to and pray with Crossroads’ patients.
When asked what volunteer needs Crossroads has, Cynthia mentioned the CARE Ministry, Christians Aiding in Resources and Encouragement. She said that this month we have had 30 clinics and several times we had no volunteer to pray with the patients in the CARE Ministry. Beverly mentioned there was also a need for volunteers in the front office. Someone to answer the phone or to make copies would be a great help during the busy times.
Thanks to Cynthia Jolly and Beverly Mainor lives are being impacted by God’s love through PAP. If you would like to explore ways God might use your talents to bless others, check out our Volunteers Needed page or call 850-389-3015.
